Waitlist OPEN for Shoulder Foundations!!!

We're super pumped to announce that we're working HARD on our new 12-week Shoulder Foundation Program and anticipate it's launch THIS summer 😍!! HERE is a teaser video I made today.

A common misconception is that keeping shoulders "down and back" solves all postural and shoulder issues, but true shoulder health involves the movement of shoulder blades and shoulder rotation, supported by a stable and mobile ribcage and spine. Passive treatments like ice, heat, and stretching, while useful at times, do not prepare the shoulder area to become more resilient and robust, often resulting in weak and tight shoulders that cause pain and under-performance.

Our program will focus on improving range of motion, strengthening the rotator cuff, and enhancing throwing and overhead movements, ultimately increasing speed and power. It will start with the basics like mobility, holds, and isolated exercises, while progressing to exercises relevant to daily life and sports activities, aiming to help people get out of pain, become resistant to injury, and boost performance. Whether dealing with recurring injuries, ineffective isolated exercises, or the need for precise shoulder control in dynamic movements, our program offers a comprehensive solution.

In case you've tried Hip Foundations or Foot Foundations, Shoulder Foundations will be delivered in a similar format (3 strength days/week, 1 mobility/recovery day/week and 12-weeks split into 3 distinct phases). P.S. those first 2 are ON SALE right now.

If you like the sound of this and think you might need something like this (or know someone who would), head to THIS link to join the WAITLIST where you'll be notified FIRST when it comes out WITH a special discount code.

I mentioned in last week's email that I would talk a little more about tendon ruptures this week, but to be honest, even just sharing those stats and stories last week - since they hit close to home with some of the athletes' we're currently working with - brought me down for the rest of the day. I promise to share more about tendons and ruptures soon since the topic is SO relevant... just needed some GOOD news to share today instead.

Ever gotten out of breath when you're lifting heavy weights? If you have, you're not alone, and that response is totally normal in your physiological effort to recover from that stress. I used to train a National Team Bobsleigh athlete who wore a shirt to training that read: Lifting is my cardio ..and she would exclaim during training that if she had >5 rep exercises in her program that the program was a "cardio day", ha! Well why then, might you ask, does it seem like your out-of-breathness...

We're kicking off Thursday with a little functional anatomy for you this week. I've heard "I know I should keep my shoulders down and back" a few times in the last week, so I thought I would clarify! The TLDR* is highlighted below (*too long didn't read). The rhomboid muscle is highlighted in blue below. It is often the centre of attention from therapists and desk workers who claim they "know they need to keep their shoulders down and back more" to help with their posture and neck pain. It...

Elite and everyday athletes hire us to help them get faster. Sometimes they want a faster 5k, marathon or triathlon race time. Other times they want a faster 30m sprint time to be competitive in the sport of bobsleigh. Yet other times, they want to cover just a little more ground in their weekly 30 minute run to feel some sense of progress in their fitness and improvement in their health. For our Conditioning Workshop that we taught twice in the last year (this weekend is the 1 year...
